A 2-Bit Pancharatnam-Berry Coding Metasurface for Ultra-wideband and Polarization Insensitive RCS Reduction

Because Pancharatnam-Berry (PB) geometrical phase can only be generated in the co-polarized reflection coefficient under circular polarized (CP) incidence for a reflective metasurface, design of PB coding metasurface must based on an appropriate polarization conversion (PCM) which achieve CP-maintaining reflection. In this work, to 2-dit radar cross section (RCS) reduction, ultra-wideband PCM is proposed at first, numerical simulation shows that realize from 8.6 35.9 GHz; moreover, will its CP by rotating unit structure. Thus, constructed successfully PCM. The and experiment results show has excellent performance RCS reduction arbitrary incidences, compared with pure metallic plate same size, reduced more than 10 dB frequency band 8.2–35.2 GHz relative bandwidth 124.4%, addition, kept well when incident angle increased 45°.
